Eid Mubarak to you all! I pray your Eid has been full of joy. We are now coming up to our 100th episode! I ask you to keep us in your duas and help the team move forward with His barakah and guidance.
After a busy period, I plan, InshaAllah, to send out more regular newsletters with reflections on interviews and broader social and political commentary. I am planning to write an extensive article soon, responding to the Newlines Magazine essay and the New York Times piece by Wajahat Ali on Muslims and the Right. Once written I shall link it here.
Alhamdulillah the last few shows have had amazing feedback. I particularly liked Imam Tom Facchine’s perspectives on the liberal inquisition. If you haven’t watched this interview - it’s a treat from beginning to end.
The Thinking Muslim Istanbul studio now established
Alhamdulillah - We have now established a permanent studio in Istanbul. The city has become a hub for intelligent Muslim discussion. We hope to capture the intellectual vibrancy of the city with interesting experts like Dr Heba Rauf (and some familiar ones like Dr Yakoob Ahmed).
Of course everyone is still talking about Sami Hamdi’s ‘Raving in Riyadh’ interview. This show managed to reach 126 thousand views so far! The good news is that he shall make a reappearance on the podcast in the coming weeks.
We really want your suggestions for future show topics and guests. As you know, we try to keep a contemporary and thoughtful feel. Our ethos is to give a platform for genuine thinkers and experts within the ummah. This is what makes The Thinking Muslim quite unique, Alhamdulillah.
My objective has always been to slowly build the podcast, this is why I started it as an audio project from my home. If you want to access our archives - head over to our website.
Please contribute financially to the show
When I started this podast, I was looking for a show I would be interested in. One that made me think, challenged my assumptions and at the same time gave me access to the greatest minds of the ummah. Alhamdulillah we have earned a reputation for cogent and intelligent discussion within an atmosphere of adab.
This journey is only possible with your continued financial support. This is a not-for-profit podcast and our ethos is to stay away from the current clickbait culture.
If you want to contribute financially - head over to our site. Jazakallah Khair for all your duas and support.
This podcast has been one of the few "must listens" I prioritize in my queue. May Allah bless and accept the work you've done. InshaAllah I'll recommend you to my substack network as well. Barak Allah feekum
I’ve loved the podcast for a long while now. It’s truly spearheading a whole sector of intentional, thoughtful Islamic discussion with utmost adab. Such a refreshing podcast in this sometimes convoluted field of chaos. I highly respect how all your guests are extremely knowledgeable in their respective fields and they themselves are a true depiction of Muslim excellence and what an array of leaders and thinkers we as an ummah have to offer globally. But, most importantly I’d like to focus on our host. This incredible space you’ve curated, both metaphorically and physically, the ambience of the podcast is all thanks to the example you lead by. You set the tone and your guests follow suite. You’re professional yet charismatic approach, the warmth of your studio, the space to speak comfortably is all thanks to your efforts and a reflection of your character. Thank you for seeing what’s needed in the ummah and doing your best to bridge the gap between spirituality in Islam and current affairs in the Muslim world. Ultimately, May Allah bless you for deeply and sincerely caring for your brothers and sisters and educating us with ihsaan both through your words and your character.
